Acetylsalicylic acid has a number of favorable effects on the human body, and it has been used in 1898 to produce one of the oldest known medicines, aspirin. For this medicine it is said that have multiple beneficial effects. These facts are actually proven… However, there is a natural source of acetyl-salicylic acid, which is organically grown in fruits and vegetables. Did you know this fact?

The first feature of aspirin that has been noticed when the German company Bayer patented it 1898th is its soothing effect on inflammation. It inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzymes, which participate in the production of prostaglandins, and prostaglandins are essential factors when it comes to pain and inflammation.

Exactly in the same way aspirin prevents the synthesis of thromboxane, a substance which leads to the formation of blood clots. In extensive research and clinical trials conducted during 60s and 70s it has been proven that in a group of 1,000 patients who have already had a heart attack, aspirin reduced subsequent mortality by 25%, and later studies have shown that regular intake of aspirin reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke by 33%.

Salicylic acid is similar to vitamin

More recent researches have shown that aspirin may act as an antioxidant, in order to act preventively to breast cancer and colon cancer, as well as being able to act preventively to Alzheimer’s disease – it is again about presumption of its anti-inflammatory effect on the inhibition of prostaglandin.

How such a simple remedy can have so many beneficial effects?

In this case, the point is that salicylic acid, the main ingredient in aspirin, is not really a cure, but the essential ingredient of nutrition! Our organism is in need of acetyl-salicylic acid in the same way as it is in need of vitamins.

It has been shown that acetyl-salicylic acid has been found in large quantities of fruits and vegetables, significantly more in those organically grown, and especially in those slightly squashed. Salicylic acid is similar to vitamins. When there’s enough in the body, everything is fine, but when there is a deficit – the result is disorder. Since the modern diet isn’t comprised of sufficient number of salicylates (salt of salicylic acid), there is a medicine called aspirin.

Unfortunately, like any other medicine it also has some undesirable effects and contraindications, so it is not always the best option.

However, natural intake of salicylates – through fruits and vegetables – it has the same positive effects on the human organism as aspirin and this was confirmed by clinical trials.

A vegetarian diet instead of pills

The studies that were once performed on vegetarian Buddhist monks have shown that they have higher levels of salicylates in the blood than the control group. Therefore, due to the already mentioned effects of salicylic acid, they have lowered their risk of heart attack and stroke, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. So, a diet rich in salicylates – based on fruit and vegetables, primarily organic – has all the positive effects that aspirin has, and at the same time there are NO SIDE EFFECTS that aspirin can sometimes have.
